About Me

I have been working steadily as a professional developing high-end web sites and web-related materials since graduating from San Francisco State’s Multimedia Studies Program in 1998. Currently, I am currently working as a freelance Interactive Developer.

For the past several years, I have built sites exclusively with XHTML and CSS. I am a fervent believer in hand-coding. My years of experience have made me exceptionally detailed-oriented and sensitive to design nuances while I code.

I also specialize in HTML email. Since it is so difficult to get HTML to render well across various email clients, my philosophy is to use code that will look the best across the greatest number of email clients, but will degrade gracefully. This means clean, simple design and old-school table-based layouts with inline CSS. Like many others, I look forward to a day when email client developers work with the design community to improve web standards support in email.

Experience developing custom Facebook pages using FBML
Debugging with Bugzilla
Version control via Subversion and Eclipse
Expertise in Adobe CS3 apps (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash and Acrobat)
An exceptional eye for color, layout and typography
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

In 2005, two custom microsites which I designed and built while at CMP (Mobilized Software and BTO Awards) won the Gold Award and Honorable Mention of Media Industry Newsletter’s 2005 Integrated Marketing Awards. Another microsite I designed (dso.com) received a nice write-up in Min’s Advertising Report.

Tools

I develop on Firefox on a Mac. I believe it to be the most standards compliant browser—there are no Firefox hacks. If my code renders well in it, I only need to tweak it a little to look good in other browsers.

I also like Firefox add-ons. The following are essential tools:

I test for PC browsers on VMWare. Depending on my audience, I test in IE6, IE7, IE8, Chrome, Safari and Opera
